In 1886, a group of munition workers from a factory in Woolwich began a football team. They called themselves ‘Dial Square FC’, named after their workshop which had a sundial in the courtyard. This team went on to become Arsenal FC.

Using archives and old photographs as reference, we designed Dial Square; a hospitality space in the Emirates stadium that pays homage to the first team’s workshop. We created a new logo influenced by the original sundial, replicated the sundial as a 3m floor mosaic and placed 4 huge trees around a central bar (similar to the trees in the original courtyard).

Inspired by the ‘accuracy and precision’ of the workshop, we told stories around the space of the best moments in Arsenal’s history that represented great levels of accuracy and precision.

Winner or the 2019 Restaurant and Bar Awards.
